Welcoming Students and Supporters to Fancy Hill
April 14, 2025
Last weekend, board members of The W&L Spectator assembled in the Fancy Hill conference room to discuss important business items about their upcoming print edition and plan for next semester. Now, students are diligently preparing for finals, and Fancy Hill has become a popular setting to study and take exams.
Since our inception, The Generals Redoubt has been a longtime supporter of students and their initiatives. We have partnered with The Spectator, Students for Historical Preservation, Mock Convention, and College Republicans — to name a few — and are looking forward to expanding our engagement next year. Thankfully, Fancy Hill provides countless opportunities for alumni and students to collaborate.
Earlier this month, we released our new podcast series, “General Lee Speaking,” which you can listen to on our website or YouTube channel. Our next episode, which comes out on Alumni Weekend, will feature a conversation with a current student about the Honor System and how university presidents have shaped it over time. If you have any ideas for future episodes, please let us know!
We also need your help in completing our Sixth Annual Fund. The $75,000 match gift established in honor of “Jockey” John Robinson continues through June, and the money raised through it will sustain our digital productions, grow our community footprint, and support upcoming student collaborations.
You can learn more about these initiatives during next month’s Alumni Weekend. For those of you returning to Lexington, please stop by Fancy Hill between 8:30 AM to Noon on Saturday, May 3.
There you will get a rundown of the site’s history, visit the renovated office, and take a guided tour through the nearly-completed main house. We’ll also have plenty of “General Lee’s College” hats for you to proudly wear throughout Lexington!
Please click HERE to RSVP, and be sure to share it with your friends and classmates!
