The Generals Redoubt Meets the Parents

The Generals Redoubt welcomed an enthusiastic crowd of students and parents over Parents’ Weekend last Saturday for a reception in Lexington.

The event featured a book-signing and brief presentation (https://youtu.be/ueEe9nsqv34?si=qHqbVZR3E_IT0HH2) by Gib Kerr, author of Un-Cancel Robert E. Lee, along with comments by Chairman Tom Rideout and our post-graduate fellow Kamron Spivey.

The Generals Redoubt continues to strengthen relationships with students on campus by supporting several student organizations, including The W&L Spectator, and by funding high-caliber, national speakers such as Stephen Moore (https://www.wluspectator.com/articles/ moore- stephen).  We also work to keep parents and alumni informed of developments on campus.

We find it refreshing to meet so many impressive young students and their equally supportive parents. We maintain our commitment to educating students about W&L’s unique history, particularly the legacies of George Washington and Robert E. Lee, without whom the university would not exist. Knowledge of our Founders is fading on campus since the university’s ill-advised decisions in 2021 to rename Lee Chapel, remove or hide memorials to Lee, and eliminate Founders’ Day.

We remain committed to reversing those decisions and to restoring Lee to his rightful place of honor on campus. To that end, we recently produced several short videos which are aimed at an audience with contemporary interests and are easily shareable on social media. These videos can be accessed through The Generals Redoubt You Tube channel.  We will continue to produce and promote similar content to advance our mission in Lexington.
