Your commitment to The Generals Redoubt has made an indelible impact on the preservation of the historical heritage and the education of future generations at Washington and Lee University.
As members of The Generals Redoubt, we stand as guardians of history, committed to protecting the legacy of our Founders and honoring their contributions. With every passing year, our responsibility to preserve the memories and lessons of the past grows more crucial, as others seek to erase these from our campus. The Generals Redoubt serves as a beacon of knowledge, inviting supporters to step into the footsteps of history and connect with the stories that shaped our great university.
As we approach the end of our fiscal year, we humbly invite you to join us in securing the future of The Generals Redoubt through your annual fund gift. Your contribution will play an integral role in sustaining our mission and expanding our impact in the coming year. Here’s how your support will make a difference:
1. Operational Funding: The Generals Redoubt has recently purchased Fancy Hill, a historic home on one of the seven hills of Rockbridge County. The Fancy Hill property will serve as a headquarters for our organization, with future intentions of hosting gatherings, speakers, student groups, and more. While our annual fund appeal is not capital in nature, this property will have ongoing operational needs that will require funding. Your gift will aid in creating a space that will give TGR a permanent presence in the Washington and Lee community.
2. Educational Programming: Your donation will enable us to continue offering educational initiatives that engage students, parents and alumni. In the past year, we have been able to partner with on-campus groups such as Mock Convention to bring powerful conservative leaders to campus. We were the sole means of funding for the Michael Pence/ Bret Baier talk to kick off the Mock Convention season. We also connected with groups around the country who are doing similar work as ours, and partnered with many of them to highlight troubling issues in academia on the whole. For example, TGR help sponsor a debate on DEI at MIT. We are also a founding member of AFSA (Alumni Free Speech Alliance) and a member of FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education), two groups who are doing very important work.
3. Community Outreach: Your support will enable us to continue and even expand our outreach efforts, through print, online, social media and broader marketing events. So much of what we need to do is to bring light to what the University administration and faculty are trying to do on campus – erase our legacy. Our communications efforts are aimed at holding them accountable and keeping our audience informed and engaged so as to deter their efforts. In a recent conversation with a current faculty member, he noted that the faculty despise what TGR is doing, which means we are being successful. Our efforts are being impactful, and we need to continue and expand these efforts.
